We have looked at how good France, Spain and England are when we analysed the players they have not chosen for Euro 2016. Now let’s focus on the players who are actually going to be in the tournament.

We will try our very best to predict how the top 6 nations (in a two-part series) will line up in their opening matches. A lot of guess work is involved so try not to come down too hard on us!

(all line-ups built with www.lineupbuilder.com)

Belgium (Predicted formation: 4-2-3-1)

The Red Devils of international football have been rather predictable in the line-ups and are expected to play Romelu Lukaku as the lone striker upfront. Right-back remains a question mark but there is a high possibility of Alex Witsel filling that role.

France (Predicted formation: 4-1-4-1)

The French has not played a competitive game in two years so it would be difficult the second guess how Didier Deschamps will line-up. The forward three should be fixed, together with Paul Pogba and Blaise Matuidi. N’golo Kante is the first choice as the holding midfielder role while either Adil Rami or Eliaquim Mangala could partner Laurent Koscielny at the back.

Portugal (Predicted formation: 4-2-4)

Front two of Nani and Cristiano Ronaldo are certain starters. New Bayern Munich purchase Renato Sanches may have a starting role to play as well but may be rested in the opening game. Either Cédric Soares or Vieirinha could play at right back. Bruno Alves gets our nod, but he could be easily replaced by Jose Fonte.
