Here are 5 talking points ahead of Gameweek 24.
Before the 2-0 win against Manchester United, the discussions over who are the 3 assets to get has been focused around Salah (LIV, 12.4m, TSB 27.5%), Mane (LIV, 12.4m, TSB 40.7%), Firmino (LIV, 9.4m, TSB 12.9%), TAA (LIV, 7.5m, TSB 40.2%) and Robertson (LIV, 7.0m, TSB 20.4%). Now, VVD (LIV, 6.4m, TSB 41.3%) has to be considered as another option after he scored his 4th goal of the season. The return of Matip (LIV, 5.2m, TSB 1.2%) also bring about some uncertainty, as Klopp has the option to rotate among his backline now. We think that all the first 6 players mentioned are good choices and one should see how best to get 3 Liverpool players without taking too many hits and surgery to the current structure of your team.
West Ham is the other team with a double gameweek and their fixtures look like this @LEI and LIV. It is hard to see a clean sheet in both the games, so there is probably little value in their defence. If you have a free transfer to use, perhaps the only player to consider is Noble (WHU, 5.0m, TSB 1.5%) who has penalty duties.
Back to back defeats to Southampton and Burnley have caused much concern to managers who have their players. The loss of Ndidi (LEI, 5.0m, TSB 1.9%) to injury seems to weaken their defensive ability, and it is no coincidence that Tielemans (LEI, 6.2m, TSB 4.8%) has not started in both the defeats. Vardy (LEI, 10.1m, TSB 49.5%) missing his penalty was also a blow, and if he had scored his penalty, that could have won them their game against Burnley. Their next fixture is at home to West Ham, which is a good fixture to see if it is really time to ship out Leicester players.
It has been confirmed that Rashford (MUN, 9.0m, 19.7%) will be out for several weeks, with his expected return on 7 Mar 2020 (Gameweek 29). There are plenty of options to replace him, which depends on your budget and which are the forwards you already have. Here are some options for you to consider in order of decreasing prices, and their next fixtures in the next 4 gameweeks.
- Aguero – 11.9m (@SHU, @TOT, WHU, @LEI)
- Vardy – 10.1m (WHU, CHE, @WOL, MCI)
- Firmino – 9.4m (@WOL, @WHU, SOU, @NOR, WHU)
- Abraham – 7.9m (ARS, @LEI, MUN, TOT)
- Jimenez – 7.5m (LIV, @MUN, LEI, NOR)
- Ings – 6.9m (@PAL, @LIV, BUR, AST)
- Calvert-Lewin – 6.0m (NEW, @WAT, PAL, @ARS)
- Deeney/Deulofeu – 6.2m/6.1m (@AST, EVE, @BHA, @MUN)
The most important question – Who to captain for Gameweek 24?
Your gameweek 24 captain is most certainly going to come from Liverpool. There is little to separate Salah and Mane, with the exception that Salah is on penalty duties. The other options of Firmino, VVD, TAA, Robertson will be left field choices. If you are in a mini league, you may want to consider if you want to defend a lead (i.e. choose the captain your rivals are most likely to choose) or be different (e.g. if you are chasing someone who only has Mane, you might want to select Salah as your captain).
That’s all for now and good luck for Gameweek 24!
