FPL GW24 Picks
FPL GW24 Picks -BUY
Ben Mee (£5.0m / 4.3%)
My first port of call for getting in Burnley defensive assets was Nick Pope (£5.5m / 14.3%) but as I recommended him in my last article, my focus this week is on Ben Mee.
Forget stats, Burnley’s upcoming fixtures (cry/FUL, WBA, tot, ARS) are very appealing (with the exception of Spurs). Also, Burnley are likely to get another double in GW26, so a move for a Burnley asset will benefit owners beyond the short term.
In terms of stats, it is a close call between Mee and Tarkowski, so close in fact that I would pocket the £0.3m and go with Mee. At the end of the day, we are targeting Burnley defenders for their clean sheet potential and not their attacking returns.
Raheem Sterling (£11.6m / 13.2%)
With 3 returns in his last 3 appearances, Raheem Sterling seems to be hitting a vein of form. He is 2nd for xG and 1st for Big Chances (amongst midfielders) over the last 4 game weeks.
City’s fixtures (TOT/eve, ars, WHU, MUN) are reasonable and, as with Burnley, they are likely to get a double in GW26.
I believe Sterling could be a good captaincy option and, with just over 13% ownership, he feels something of a differential option this week. Owners and potential buyers should be boosted by the fact that he was subbed off after 57 minutes, as clear an indication as one can get from Pep that he will start at the weekend. As ever, there is the slight danger that he won’t play in the subsequent game, but that is the risk you take with Pep.
Callum Wilson (£6.7m / 17.6%)
James Justin (£5.2m / 29.8%)
The latest news is that Justin would be out because of ACL so it becomes inevitable to sell him now.
I thank him for his wonderful services to date as I am a proud owner since GW01.
Jack Grealish (£7.8m / 40.1%)
Aston Villa may not have a double in either GW24 or GW25 but the upcoming confirmed fixtures (lee, WOL, new, shu) are very nice and Villa are likely to get a double in GW26 and, crucially, are one of the few teams who won’t blank in BGW29.
He has returned 4 times in the last 5 game weeks and is 2nd for Key Passes in the last 4 game weeks.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin (£7.7m / 44.3%)
As I write this, the Premier League press conferences have not yet finished, but I would expect one of two outcomes:
1. He has a medium-term hamstring injury and will be out for some time
2. It is not as bad as was feared, but he will miss the Fulham game
If either of these scenarios is correct, I would sell (or at the very least bench) Dominic Calvert-Lewin. If he misses the Fulham game, but is in contention thereafter, then his next two fixtures are MCI and liv – about as bad as it gets.
If by some miracle he is fit for both games, I would keep and play him for DGW24.
