FPL GW28 Picks – BUY
Gareth Bale (£9.4m / 6.3%)
With 35 points in his last three games (11.6 points per game), it is no wonder that Bale is one of the most transferred in players ahead of GW28. His link up play with Kane has been fantastic and I think we are looking at the beginning of a deadly partnership.
Owners should be slightly wary of his rotation risk but it would appear Jose Mourinho has done an excellent job of managing his minutes and the Welshman now appears to be firing on all cylinders.
Spurs‘ upcoming fixtures (ars, avl, new, MUN) aren’t fantastic but they are nothing to shy away from either and, for those without a Free Hit, Spurs are one of the few teams who don’t blank in GW29. I think this is a great time to bring him in.
Cesar Azpilicueta (£5.7m / 5.5%)
Tuchel has made a phenomenal start and seems to have created a defensive powerhouse at Chelsea, with them only conceding a single goal in the last five gameweeks.
With excellent fixtures (lee, WBA, cry, BHA) on the horizon, I believe now would be great time to invest in one of their defensive assets. Please note that Chelsea do blank in GW29, so Chelsea players may not be the best assets for those who don’t have their Free Hit.
My worry with bringing in Chelsea players was Tuchel’s constant system, and personnel, tweaks but it would appear Azpilicueta is as nailed on as you can get, having played 90 minutes in each of the last 9 games.
His underlying stats also highlight his importance, topping the table for points (amongst Chelsea players) over the last four gameweeks.
FPL GW28 Picks – SELL
Mo Salah (£12.5m / 34.9%)
I said it in my GW21 article and I will say it again now. If you still own Salah, as I do, then get rid. At £12.5m, he is far too expensive an asset to keep in your squad, especially when returning 9 points in his last four game weeks (2.25 points per game) and in the shadow of higher performing premium assets such as Bale, Bruno and Kevin De Bruyne.
Danny Ings (£8.4m / 8.5%)
I felt so sorry for owners of Ings who held onto him through his bad patch in order to field him in DGW27, only to see him go off injured after 12 minutes of the Sheffield United game. Very unlucky indeed.
It would appear that the injury, while not season long, will have him out for the best part of a month which, in my opinion, is too long to hold onto a forward.
“I think it is a serious one but not too serious. I think three weeks it’ll be, expect him back after the international break.”
FPL GW28 Picks – KEEP
Heung-Min Son (£9.6m / 55.0%)
Bale’s recent rise may have changed the dynamic at Spurs but don’t write off Son.
He is top of all players for Big Chances Created (6) and joint 3rd of all players for Key Passes (14) over the last four gameweeks. While his goals may have dried up, his creativity hasn’t and with the form Bale and Kane are in, he could be amongst the assists soon.
Raphinha (£5.5m / 10.8%)
Raphinha owners may be disappointed by two consecutive blanks but his underlying stats, and the eye test, show that Raphinha has been very unlucky not to have returned.
He is top for Key Passes (18), 2nd for Big Chances Created (5) and joint fifth for Shots (14) over the last four gameweeks and looks to be in the form of his life.
Leeds upcoming fixtures (CHE, ful, SHU, mci) are mixed but, again, Leeds don’t blank in GW29 for those who are not Free Hitting.
