UCL Fantasy MD8 Captain
MD8 is the second leg of the 8 Last 16 ties of the 2020/21 UCL. Like MD7 it will be played over 4 calendar days so remember the power of Manual Substitution and use it to the best effect.
UCL Fantasy MD8 Captain
Tuesday (9 Mar)
There is probably no need to look beyond Haaland (Dortmund) on the first day of the MD8. The kid has been on top form all season and added another 2 goals against Bayern Munich over the weekend. Dortmund takes a good away lead to this home tie, but is expected to continue to attack Sevilla.
Wednesday (10 Mar)
If Haaland fails to deliver, Wednesday presents two interesting ties in which both hosts hold good leads. Liverpool are misfiring in the league so it would be difficult to pick any standout player to captain.
Mbappe (PSG) may be a good shout to back because Barcelona is expected to attack the host. Messi (Barcelona) is a boring choice but he always delivers when it is required of him. In 2021, Messi has scored 12 goals and provided 5 assists in 10 La Liga games. Form.
Tuesday (16 Mar)
An array of Man City players make good captain choices on the 3rd calendar day of MD8. The question is who Pep will field, given that they are already comfortably ahead in this tie. Gundogan (Man City) and De Bruyne (Man City) are the most likely starters to be backed as captains.
Real Madrid also take a lead back home to Spain but in terms of tie management, may build to defend their first leg lead.
Wednesday (17 Mar)
If all your choices failed to returned to date, it would be a tough final calendar day. Lewandowski (Bayern) is the most nature player to captain; Coman (Bayern) makes a good alternative too.
I cannot see too many options from the Chelsea / Atletico tie, perhaps Joao Felix (Atletico) if you back the La Liga leaders to overturn this tie in London.
