UCL Fantasy MD9 Captain (Tuesday) – Haaland (Dortmund) – 11.1m / 43% owned

UCL Fantasy MD8 Captain

There is a little that is already not said about the Norwegian wonderkid Haaland. He has 33 goals from 32 games in all competitions to date, including 10 in 6 Champions League games.

He is fixture-proof and some may see this game has his best audition chance for a prospective future employer. City defence is tight, but all Haaland needs is a sniff.

With him playing on a Tuesday, he is relatively risk-free and potentially explosive.

The only downside is that Haaland is currently on a 4-game goal drought – 3 of those games were for Norway.

Alternate – Benzema (Real) – 10.4m / 7% owned

Most Haaland owners will captain him on Tuesday.

As an alternate / differential, Benzema is worth a punt.

His record is immense and is currently in the form of his career, helping Real slowly crawl back into title contention domestically.

In Europe, he fancies his chances against a very inexperienced Liverpool backline.

UCL Fantasy MD9 Captain (Wednesday) – Kimmich (Bayern) – 6.6m / 30% owned

To be very honest, there will not be any standout captain choices should your picks blank on Tuesday.

Lewandowski is out and the rest of the Bayern players are great players but none of them standout.

Kimmich is our pick for captain. He is OOP – a listed defender playing in the heart of midfield. In the Champions League he has 1 goal and 3 assists to date. He also have 25 balls recovered.

He may not be explosive but he is a safe captain choice on Wednesday when there is not more manual substitution to lean into.

Alternate – Sanusi (Porto) – 5.3m/ 6%

As mentioned, pickings are slim. No attacking players from Chelsea standout as a captain choice, especially because they face a Porto side which is very solid at the back.

We fancy Sanusi as a alternate captain pick. He is the top scoring defender in UCL Fantasy (50). We expect Porto to play very tightly in this designated first leg to avoid conceding any away goals.
