Euro Fantasy Forwards
Forwards, as in most fantasy games, is the most premium category. In Euro Fantasy, 9 Forwards are priced >10.0, compared to just 2 midfielders.
In this series, we have worked with FPL Zé, who has produced a complete set of spreadsheets covering all positions.
For forwards, FPL Ze has considered both their form for the national team and their club form for the 2020/21 season, incorporating goals and assists statistics
The below is ranked by best performers per unit price.
Euro Fantasy Forwards #5 – Depay (NED | 10.0)
Key Stat – 12 goals | 13 assists in 20 internationals
Dutch players have appeared on our lists often for Euro Fantasy picks and as mentioned before they are in a relatively easy Group.
Depay in particular has been enjoying great form for the national side, involved in 25 goals in his previous 20 internationals.
He is nailed on for the Netherlands and can play either as a center forward or on the left side of attack.
At club level, Depay enjoyed a great season with 22 goals and 10 assists as the captain of Lyon, who qualified for the Europa League this season.
His price of 10.0 may be an issue for managers, as the likes of Lewandowski and Lukaku are just 1.0 more expensive.
In terms of fixtures, Depay do stand out.
Euro Fantasy Forwards #4 – Dzyuba (RUS | 7.0)
Key Stat – 16 goals | 6 assists in 21 internationals
Veteran forward Dzyuba is Russia’s captain and nailed on to start.
He has been in great scoring form for Russia since 2018, scoring 16 goals in 21 starts. Dzyuba is also on penalties.
At club level he has continued to deliver- – his return of 20 club goals this season is a career best.
Russia have 2 home games in Group B, starting with Belgium (MD1) then Finland on MD2. They have to visit Copenhagen to play Denmark on MD3.
Definitely a pick worth considering after MD1.
Euro Fantasy Forwards #3 – Moreno (ESP | 6.5)
Key Stat – 30 goals | 11 assists in 46 club appearances
Moreno is a late bloomer at the international stage, having only made his debut at age 27.
He is, however, one of the most highly rated Spanish forwards after his exploits with Villarreal this season. He scored 30 goals for the club this season, including 7 in the Europa League.
Spain is in a relatively ok Group, playing Sweden, Poland and Slovakia in that order.
Question is of course if Moreno will start ahead of Morata. Moreno has only came on as a substitute in 4 of Spain’s last 6 competitive internationals (even though he scored twice).
Probably worth monitoring the Spanish lineup after MD1.
Euro Fantasy Forwards #2 – Wind (DEN | 6.0)
Key Stat – 17 goals | 8 assists in 31 club appearances
FC Copenhagen’s 22-year-old forward is another player to watch.
Wind enjoyed a breakout season domestically, scored 17 goals.
He went on to make his international debut in Nov 2020 and has 3 goals and 1 assist from 3 international starts.
He is not nailed on to start, but Denmark has 3 home games, including a juicy MD1 fixture against Finland.
Euro Fantasy Forwards #1 – Pukki (FIN | 7.0)
Key Stat – 15 goals | 3 assists in 19 internationals
All FPL managers would be familiar with Pukki and his exploits with Norwich in the first half of last season.
He played Championship football this season, scoring 26 goals to help Norwich make an instant return to the Premier League.
Internationally, his scoring streak has been sensational – his 10 goals and 2 assist in the Euro 2020 qualifiers had almost singlehandedly helped Finland reach their first major Finals.
He is absolutely nailed on to start and plays Denmark, Russia and Belgium in that order.
He is on penalties as well.
At 7.0, Pukki is a good choice to free cash for your two other striker slots.
