FPL Team Preview Spurs

Spurs started the season with Mourinho at the helm and ended the season with Ryan Mason. They will start next season with ex-Wolves manager Nuno Espirito Santos.

They also reached the EFL Cup Final, which they lost and finished in 7th place to qualify for the newly minted Europa Conference League.

FPL Team Preview Spurs

2020-21 Premier League Season

Spurs’ season was patchy, to say the least. They were unbeaten from GW02 to GW12 and led the Premier League, but they would later implode in January, where they lost 5 games in 6.

Mourinho was sacked with just 6 games to go, Spurs did just enough to finish in 7th. Bale’s “homecoming” on a loan spell was fruitful enough, he enjoyed his moments and scored 16 goals in 34 appearances.

Harry Kane won the Golden Boot with 23 goals, but in truth it was still a bitterly disappointing season for all Spurs’ fans.

Top Players

Without a FPL Premium Forward

Kane (FWD | 12.5) ranks highly in just about every noteworthy attacking statistic. He tops with goals from open play (18), number of shots (137) and shots on target (53), second only to Salah in xG.

His price has also been upgraded to 12.5 – he is now the most premium of FPL assets with Salah.

Kane’s consistency in the Premier League is second to none – he has enjoyed 15+ goals per season every season since 2014/15. Last season, he accumulated a career high number of FPL assists at 14, which means that he finishes FPL only second to Bruno Fernandes at 242pts.

It has been reported that Kane is likely to miss the GW01 as he was given an extended break after his exertions last season. More interestingly, with renewed interest from Man City, the England captain may in fact start the FPL season in a different shirt.

Son (MID | 10.0) enjoyed his best FPL season last term with 228pts, scoring 17 and assisting 11 times. The Korean now has double-digit goals every season since 2016/17. His partnership with Kane was second to none last season – the pair assisted each other for 14 goals last season, a Premier League record.

Unlike his Europeans and Latin American counterparts, Son enjoyed a good break over the summer and is looking sharp in pre-season. He also signed a long term contract with Spurs.

If Kane were to leave this summer, there is every chance that Son would be played upfront, effectively meaning that he would be a out-of-position player in FPL.

FPL GW32 Differentials

Lloris (GK | 5.5) was ranked 4th overall as a FPL GK with 149points. He played every minute of the season and made 114 saves, also 4th in the ranking.

The arrival of Gollini on loan is interesting, but the French GK is not likely to be usurped.

Regulion (DEF | 5.0) arrived from Real Madrid and at one point, was highly rated as a player to watch in FPL. In the end, he started 26 times for Spurs and managed 4 assists.

This is his second season in the Premier League so perhaps he now had the time to settle in. A player with obvious talent and worth shortlisting.

Hojbjerg (MID | 5.0) played every minute of every game last season and went on to play for Denmark in Euro 2020, where he excelled.

He is not often on FPL radars and is currently owned by 3% of the game.

All things considered, he may not be a bad choice at 5.0. He is nailed on, plays in midfield where he scored 2 and assisted 4 times last season.

New Signings

Gollini (GK | 4.5)‘s arrival is interesting. The Italian was Atalanta’s first choice GK for the last 3 seasons and he joins on loan at a club where he is very likely to be second choice.

Bryan Gil (MID | 6.0) is Spur’s big name move this summer. The Spanish 20-year-old is primarily a left winger but can play on the right effectively as well. He has 54 La Liga appearances under his belt – he has 6 goals and 4 assists.

Gil is highly rated as a Sevilla player back home.

His attacking stats are not as impressive but he is likely to be given game time quickly. Definitely worth shortlisting at this stage.

Spurs have the worst possible start on GW01 where they face Man City at home. This misery can be compounded by the fact that Kane may be in a City shirt for that game.

They do have three winnable games before they face Chelsea at home on GW05.

Verdict

Kane would be a highly owned FPL asset, in a Spurs shirt or otherwise. Son could be on the way to another great FPL season while Gil can be a possible differential in the early game weeks.
